Where do your programmes & events take place?
Planet Compassion programmes and events predominantly take place in green spaces around the Epping Forest District and the London borough of Waltham Forest.
We also run occasional workshops online and collaborate with other organisations and community groups that share our values.
What should children wear to an event or programme?
Our sessions takes place in wind, rain or shine, so it’s important that children come dressed appropriately so they can enjoy themselves, and build resilience in all weathers.
Whatever the weather, we recommend that children wear long sleeve tops and trousers, to protect their skin from stinging nettles, brambles and possible insect stings. We also recommend good solid, supportive footwear be worn, preferably boots, or wellies in the wet weather, and children wear or bring waterproofs.
During very hot weather children should bring a hat and sun cream. And during cold weather, children should wear layers to stay warm. And they should always bring a water bottle to stay hydrated.
Will events and programmes continue in adverse weather conditions?
If the weather poses a risk to health and safety, such as stormy weather/high winds, or extreme heat/cold, then sessions may be cancelled, otherwise we will continue whatever the weather. We love all weathers at Planet Compassion.
Are there any forms to complete?
Depending on the event, a registration form may need to be completed. Information may be required regarding health/disability/ medical status, so we can help to maintain health and safety.
How do we pay for a session or an event?
Some events may need to be pre booked and paid prior to commencing. A payment link can be sent to you after registration Following receipt of payment, confirmation will be sent. If there is a waitlist and a place becomes available, then we will give you a window of time to complete the payment transaction after the link has been sent.
How do you manage health and safety?
A carer/family member is expected to accompany a child and manage their overall health and safety at our events. We adhere to our health and safety policies & procedures, activities are delivered by a trained member of staff. We complete an activity and site risk assessment before every session, and a dynamic risk assessment throughout. The session leader is first aid trained and a first aid kit will always be present. All staff have DBS Clearance.
