PC Green Roof Project

Why not have a go at making a small green roof to help pollinating insects!

We had fun creating one last October, with the help of a volunteer, and the local community for the Chingford Mount Festival. We made ours on top of tool cabinet, the design mimicking the Organic Lea vegetable pick up points in the borough of Waltham Forest.

Your’s could be a garden shed, bin or bike shed, any angled roof top, ideally ten degrees or more to allow for water drainage. See information below for a bit of guidance.

Insects, including bee’s are currently under threat due to loss of habitat and climate disturbance. They need more foraging space, more plants, and flowers to collect pollen from to survive, especially in urban areas.

They are responsible for pollinating many of our food crops, which means we wouldn’t survive without them. Plus watching wildlife is great for well-being. Who wouldn’t want more bee’s and pollinators visiting their gardens or local green space? Our health and well-being is inextricably linked to the health of the natural world.

A greener future is a more compassionate future.
